棕榈酸鲸蜡酯是由鲸蜡醇与棕榈酸形成的蜡酯，两者均取自棕榈油或椰子油。其 CAS 号为 540-10-3，INCI 名称为 Cetyl Palmitate，以白色结晶片状、珠状或粉状供应，几乎无气味。它是鲸蜡的主要成分，鲸蜡过去取自抹香鲸，而合成的植物来源酯已完全取代该原料。
由于分子两端均为饱和结构，酯化后不再残留游离酸基或羟基，该蜡在化学上呈惰性，抗氧化稳定，pH 中性。它在约 50 摄氏度处熔程很窄，正是这种明锐的相变赋予其使用价值：在包装中保持坚硬，接触皮肤温度后迅速化为稀薄液体，带来蜂蜡等较重蜡类所不具备的清爽不油腻的滑感。在配方中，它可提高熔点与硬度，稳定乳化体系，并赋予干爽丝绒般的肤后感。
其应用包括膏霜与乳液、唇膏与棒状产品、粉饼与彩妆、防晒产品、护发素及药用软膏，工业上则用于上光剂以及作为塑料加工中的润滑剂。
