About This Product
PETS, also named pentaerythrityl tetrastearate, is a polyol ester in which all four hydroxyl groups of pentaerythritol are esterified with stearic acid, giving the formula C77H148O8. It is described as a white crystalline powder of 99% purity with a typical melting range of 50–70 °C, soluble in ethanol and benzene and insoluble in water.
In thermoplastic engineering plastics it works as a lubricant and dispersant. In glass-fibre reinforced compounds it helps the fibre disperse and bond within the resin, reducing fibre showing at the surface and improving gloss, and its low weight loss at processing temperatures suits high-temperature compounding. Further outlets are lubricating oil formulations and the lubrication of metal cutting and thin steel sheet rolling.
Acid value, hydroxyl value and colour limits are not stated, although they are normally part of a PETS specification, so agree them before ordering together with the physical form, since the product is also described as a white waxy solid. The melting range is a typical figure rather than a lot limit, so compare each delivery with its lot certificate and have the SDS to hand before use.

Confirm the evidence before ordering
Grade, origin and certification are confirmed for each proposed source. A vegetable-derived feedstock is not automatically certified sustainable, pharmaceutical grade or suitable for every application; request the evidence needed for your intended use.
