肉豆蔻醇是含十四个碳原子的直链饱和脂肪醇，系统名为十四烷-1-醇，CAS 号 112-72-1，INCI 名称为 Myristyl Alcohol。它由肉豆蔻酸或其甲酯还原制得，二者均来自椰子油或棕榈仁油，以白色片状、颗粒状或粉末状供应。
它与鲸蜡醇和硬脂醇同属一个系列，功能相同，但碳链少两个碳使其性能朝可预期的方向偏移。其熔点更低，约 38 摄氏度，接近皮肤温度，因此接触时即软化而不会产生拖滞感。它的体感也比鲸蜡醇更轻盈，残留蜡感更少，因此当配方需要增稠和乳液支撑、又不希望长链醇带来厚重感时即选用本品。与该系列的其他产品一样，长碳链加上一个末端羟基，使其能够定位于油水界面并使包围每个液滴的膜变得坚实。
本品在乳霜、乳液和护发素中用作润肤剂、增稠剂和助乳化剂，用作珠光和遮光助剂，用于药用软膏，并作为肉豆蔻基硫酸盐和肉豆蔻基乙氧基化物表面活性剂的中间体。
