鲸蜡硬脂醇，又称鲸蜡基硬脂基醇，是两种饱和脂肪醇的混合物：十六碳的鲸蜡醇和十八碳的硬脂醇。其 CAS 号为 67762-27-0，INCI 名称为 Cetearyl Alcohol，以白色片状、颗粒状或粒料供应，带有淡淡的蜡味。鲸蜡醇与硬脂醇 30:70、50:50 和 70:30 的比例均有交易，该比例是一项规格指标，而非细节。
尽管名为醇，它并非日常意义上的醇；它是蜡状固体，不具溶剂性或干燥性。它的作用是结构性的。每个分子都有一条长烃链和一个小的羟基头基，因而位于油相与水相的界面上，与主乳化剂一起排列并使该界面层变得坚实。这正是乳液增稠、油滴不再聚并的原因。它本身无法形成稳定乳液，因此被称为助乳化剂或稠度调节剂。鲸蜡醇与硬脂醇的比例决定最终效果：硬脂醇越多，产品越硬、蜡感越强；鲸蜡醇越多，肤感越轻盈、越滑爽。
本品用于乳霜、乳液、护发素和发膜，并在其中提供护发产品所依赖的附着性滑感，亦用于软膏、栓剂和片剂包衣。
