About This Product
This commercial stearic acid sits with the single-pressed materials, carrying more residual unsaturation and colour than the triple-pressed grades. Its specification allows colour up to 400 Hazen and iodine value up to 8.0 g I₂/100 g. Limits of 190.0–224.0 mg KOH/g for acid value and 190.0–225.0 mg KOH/g for saponification value apply, and the melting point may not fall below 52.0 °C. No C18 content is specified.
In rubber compounding it acts as a vulcanisation activator, and in PVC processing it lubricates both internally and externally. Candle makers and producers of metallic stearates also use it where a white, odour-stable finish is not required. When low colour or better oxidative stability is the priority, a triple-pressed grade is the more appropriate choice.
Before ordering, check that the 400 Hazen colour limit and the iodine value are acceptable for the finished article, and obtain the up-to-date specification sheet, the SDS and a lot-specific analysis certificate. Packing is given as jumbo bags or bags of 25 kg. Keep the material in a dry, ventilated store out of sun and rain, and prove suitability through the buyer’s own trials.

Confirm the evidence before ordering
Grade, origin and certification are confirmed for each proposed source. A vegetable-derived feedstock is not automatically certified sustainable, pharmaceutical grade or suitable for every application; request the evidence needed for your intended use.
