腰果酚是一种生物基酚类，取自腰果壳液，即腰果壳蜂窝层中所含的树脂。加热可使原液中的腰果酸（漆树酸）脱羧生成腰果酚，随后再经真空蒸馏加以浓缩。其 CAS 号为 37330-39-5，以淡黄色至棕色的黏稠液体形式供应。它是腰果加工的副产物，不与粮食作物或耕地形成竞争。
从结构上看，它是间位带有一条十五碳链的酚，而这条侧链正是该材料的关键所在。石油基苯酚是小而刚性的分子，因此由其制得的树脂坚硬而脆。腰果酚上这条长而部分不饱和的侧链则相当于内置的内增塑剂，可在不额外添加、日久可能迁出的增塑剂的情况下，赋予树脂韧性与柔韧性。链上的不饱和键还提供了进一步交联、干燥和聚合的反应位点。
它用于制动片和离合器面片等摩擦材料——这类应用要求树脂在高温下保持韧性——以及酚醛与环氧树脂体系、表面涂料和油漆、胶黏剂、铸造粘结剂、环氧固化剂和多元醇生产。
