棕榈酸异丙酯是异丙醇与棕榈酸（来自棕榈油的十六碳脂肪酸）形成的酯。其 CAS 号为 142-91-6，INCI 名称为 Isopropyl Palmitate，以澄清、无色、几乎无味的低黏度液体形式供应。
它与肉豆蔻酸异丙酯同属一类，作用方式相同，但脂肪链上多出的两个碳原子使其特性有明显差异。它黏度略高、挥发性略低，铺展稍慢，留下的肤感更柔软、更丰润，而非肉豆蔻酸酯那种极干爽的肤感。配方师正是据此在两者之间做出选择。由于分子中不含游离酸基或羟基，它化学性质稳定，抗氧化，在常规配方 pH 条件下不易水解。其低表面张力也使其能够很好地润湿和分散颜料，因此广泛用于彩妆产品。
它用作乳霜、乳液、防晒和护发产品中的润肤剂和铺展剂，用作粉底、唇膏和粉饼中的颜料润湿剂，并用于止汗产品和沐浴产品、药用外用制剂，以及作为合成润滑剂基础油。
