    Fatty Acids

    Stearic Acid 1870 (C18 70.0–75.0%)

    About This Product

Stearic acid 1870 is a saturated fatty acid in which stearic acid (C18) accounts for 70.0–75.0% of the chain content. With stearic rather than palmitic acid dominating the chain distribution, its melting range of 59.0–63.0 °C lies above that of the palmitic-rich blends. Its specification also caps the iodine value at 0.50 g I₂/100 g and colour at 60 Hazen, with acid value at 200.0–207.0 mg KOH/g and saponification value at 201.0–208.0 mg KOH/g.

Established outlets are cosmetics and personal care, soap and surfactant manufacture, lubricants and release agents, and high-purity metallic stearates. Formulators turn to it when a consistent fatty acid with a higher melting point is needed.

The specification sheet lists jumbo bags as well as 25 kg bags; settle packing, physical form and the full analytical limits with each order. Safety data and an analysis certificate for the supplied lot can be requested, and the grade should be checked against the formulation and any regulatory requirements of its end use.
