About This Product
Soybean acid oil is produced from soybean soapstock, the alkaline by-product separated when crude soybean oil is neutralised with caustic soda. Acidulation with sulphuric acid splits those soaps into free fatty acids, which separate as an oily upper layer. It is a dark, viscous liquid, a refinery by-product rather than a manufactured grade.
Its composition follows soybean oil, which means it is dominated by linoleic acid with substantial oleic, palmitic and alpha-linolenic fractions. Linoleic acid carries two double bonds and alpha-linolenic three, so this acid oil has a high iodine value and far more reactive unsaturation than a palm-derived equivalent. That is the basis of its value in chemical conversion: multiple double bonds per chain give more sites for epoxidation, and the drying behaviour that alkyd resins and coatings depend on comes directly from that polyunsaturation. The same reactivity makes the material unstable in storage, prone to darkening, polymerisation and rancid odour, particularly when held warm. Free fatty acid, moisture and residual sulphate vary between lots, so it is traded against an analysis of the parcel.
It is used in epoxidised soybean oil production, alkyd resins and coatings, fatty acid recovery and splitting, industrial soap, biodiesel esterification and animal feed energy.
Bio Green Oleo supplies soybean acid oil to specification on free fatty acid, iodine value, moisture and impurities, unsaponifiable matter and residual sulphate.

Confirm the evidence before ordering
Grade, origin and certification are confirmed for each proposed source. A vegetable-derived feedstock is not automatically certified sustainable, pharmaceutical grade or suitable for every application; request the evidence needed for your intended use.
