About This Product
Palm kernel stearin is the solid fraction recovered when palm kernel oil is cooled under controlled conditions and the crystallised fat is separated from the liquid olein. Typical trading values are a lauric content of 46 to 52 percent, myristic at 15 to 18 percent, an iodine value of 5 to 9, a saponification value of 240 to 255 and a melting point of 30 to 34 degrees Celsius.
For oleochemical use the point of the fraction is concentration and consistency. Fractionation strips out most of the unsaturated chains, which leaves an iodine value near single figures. Low unsaturation means very few double bonds to oxidise, so the feedstock is stable in storage and does not darken or develop peroxides during heated processing; it also means less hydrogen consumed if the route runs through hydrogenation to fatty alcohol. The narrow, lauric-dominated chain distribution gives a cleaner cut on downstream distillation than whole palm kernel oil, with less C8 and C10 to separate out. In saponification the same saturation produces a harder bar with lower moisture pickup.
It is supplied for soap noodle and laundry bar manufacture, fat splitting and lauric fatty acid production, C12 to C14 fatty alcohol routes, and specialty oleochemical processing.
Bio Green Oleo supplies RBD palm kernel stearin to specification on fatty acid distribution, iodine and saponification value, melting point, free fatty acid, moisture and colour.

Confirm the evidence before ordering
Grade, origin and certification are confirmed for each proposed source. A vegetable-derived feedstock is not automatically certified sustainable, pharmaceutical grade or suitable for every application; request the evidence needed for your intended use.
