About This Product
Palm stearin is the high-melting half of palm oil, separated out when the oil is fractionated. For a converter it is not a fat with a melting point so much as a cheap, concentrated supply of saturated sixteen-carbon chains, traded by iodine value, commonly at 48 or below, with harder grades running lower still.
For a converter its attraction is straightforward: it is the least expensive bulk source of saturated sixteen-carbon chains available. Fractionation concentrates palmitic acid and strips out much of the oleic and linoleic content, and low unsaturation is what makes the material behave well downstream. Fewer double bonds means the feed resists oxidation and colour development during heated processing, consumes less hydrogen if the route runs through hardening, and yields a fatty acid cut that distils cleanly. In saponification the saturated chains produce a hard, opaque, slow-wearing bar, which is why stearin is the standard hardening component in laundry and toilet soap blends built mainly on softer oils.
It is supplied for fat splitting and fatty acid production, soap and laundry bar manufacture, candle and wax blends, stearic acid production, and as industrial compounding feedstock.
Bio Green Oleo supplies palm stearin to specification on iodine value, slip melting point, free fatty acid, moisture and impurities, and colour, with RSPO certification available on request.

Confirm the evidence before ordering
Grade, origin and certification are confirmed for each proposed source. A vegetable-derived feedstock is not automatically certified sustainable, pharmaceutical grade or suitable for every application; request the evidence needed for your intended use.
