    RBD Palm Kernel Olein

RBD Palm Kernel Olein – Oleochemical Feedstocks product from Bio Green Oleo

    About This Product

Palm kernel olein is produced by cooling palm kernel oil under controlled conditions so the higher-melting triglycerides crystallise, then filtering off the liquid portion. Typical trading values are a lauric content of 40 to 48 percent, capric and caprylic fractions of 3 to 5 and 3 to 4 percent, an iodine value of 20 to 28 and a cloud point of 8 to 12 degrees Celsius.

For a converter the attraction is twofold. First, fractionation shifts the chain distribution toward the shorter acids, raising the caprylic and capric content relative to whole palm kernel oil, which matters where the target derivative is a C8 to C10 ester or a medium-chain triglyceride rather than a C12 surfactant. Second, and more practically, the olein remains liquid at ordinary ambient temperatures. Whole palm kernel oil and its stearin fraction set solid in the tank and need heating coils and hot lines before they can be pumped, with the energy cost and the risk of localised overheating that implies. An olein feed can usually be handled cold, which simplifies storage and metering into a continuous process.

It is supplied for fat splitting and fractionation, saponification, methyl ester and fatty alcohol production, and as a base for lubricant, coating and polymer intermediates.

Bio Green Oleo supplies RBD palm kernel olein to specification on fatty acid distribution, iodine and saponification value, cloud point, free fatty acid, moisture and colour.
